Closet Organizers Checklist
Have you ever tried to clean out closet and half way through the process realized how badly disorganized you’re closet really had become? It’s understandable to think it’d be easy - but then it’s frustrating to see that something so simple can become so cluttered before you even realize what has happened. That being said, this article will share some helpful tips for you. Let’s take a look at some closet organization strategies for the novice closet organizer!
1. Getting rid of clothes you don’t actually wear.
This first step is essential for organizing a closet when it’s in bad shape. Go through all your items and discard anything not worn in a year. (Of course save certain outfits that only are worn on special occasions, such as outfits for weddings or job interviews.) Feel free to donate all those items to a charity or if that’s too much give up, have a yard sale or sell your expensive clothes on line.
2. Buy nice hangers for what’s left.
This isn’t one of the most important steps but it’s important we establish our intention to make a good closet. Starting with quality hangers is a good way to do that if you can afford the money. There’s also the added bonus that beyond looking nice, the do indeed do a better job of hanging up your clothes.
3. Install a doubling rod.
These nifty devices latch on to the rod already in your closet and create a second one below it. This allows you to essentially double the amount of space you have for anything that goes on a hanger. This is a very clever storage tool!
4. Install a shoe rack.
Shoe racks do exactly what you might imagine: they give you a space specifically for your shoes. Not the most revolutionary of ideas, but it’s shocking how many people never consider the idea that all pairs of shoes should have a place they return to after being a worn. A shoe rack provides just that, and it keeps them off the floor, too!
5. Put like items with like items.
This means we want to take our summer shirts and put them together, and to do the same with everything else: work pants, summer dresses, dress shirts, and so on. Grouping like items together is the final key in this process.
After reading these tips, surely you can see how easy it is to keep your closet clutter free. Simply follows these strategies and the rest pretty much takes care of itself! If you’ve taken the time to go through the checklist above, your closet will be like a whole new room now!
